Jan – June 2012

July 4th, 2012

Since I was unable to post anything for the first six months of this year, I am going to try and do a recap of some of the events that have occurred. During the past six months, individuals have volunteered each month for Helping Hands Christian Resource  center. They are still filling food boxes to be distributed to the needy. The go bowling each Wednesday to the bowling alley in Hazard. They have built a great relationship with the staff there. In February, a Valentine’s party was held at the center. Many competed in Special olympics area competition in April. The same athletes competed at the state games in June. They have taken several trips to Natural Bridge. In June, they attended their annual camping trip and had a great time. Once the weather warmed up, they have went to Carr Fork, Buckhorn, and Cave Run lake to swim. They plan to go in the near future to the Creation Musuem. They are going to be able to attend due to the kindness and generosity of Helping Hands. They are providing the tickets for them to go.

Oh, I would also like to welcome all the new individuals that are new to our agency.

Once again..

2011 Events

January 25th, 2012

I am going to sum up the events of 2011, due to not being able to post. This year has been a very eventful year for Lifetime Potentials. In February, a Valentine’s Day  dance was held at the center. Invitations were sent to other agencies to attend. We had two other companies that chose to attend the party. Everyone was able to laugh, eat, dance and make new friends. In April, several individuals attended the Special Olympics Track and Field competition in Prestonsburg. Everyone that competed recieved a ribbon. Also in April, a Spring Fling was held at the center. Once again, other agencies were invited. In June, the individuals that competed in Prestonsburg competed at State competition on the EKU campus in Richmond. They were able to stay the weekend in the dorms and shop in the area, when they were not competing. In August and September, several trips were taken to Lexington to begin fittings for the Jesus prom. The males were fitted for tuxes and the females for prom dresses. In September, everyone began decorating for the annual haunted house. The Haunted House was held at the Quicksand Fire Dept in October. It ran for a week this year. Everyone had a wonderful and made enough money to held pay for a trip in December. Also in October, we entered a float in the Heritage Festival. We won second place this year. Several competed in Special Olympics bowling competition in Prestonsburg. In November, most of the individuals chose to attend the Jesus Prom. They were dressed in tuxes and prom dresses. A Thanksgiving dinner was held at the center in November. The individuals were able to invite their families and friends to attend. In December, the athletes that competed in the local bowling competition went to Louisville to compete in the State competition. They were able to stay the weekend and shop while there. On the 13-15, almost everyone took a trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to see the Christmas light display. While in Tennessee, they chose to attend the Dixie Stampede. They also chose to shop at many local stores and eat at the local restaurants. A Christmas dinner was held for everyone. One individual played Santa to hand out everyone’s presents. He chooses to do this every year. Everyone was able to enjoy a nice dinner that was prepared by LPI employees and owners.

These events were the bigger events that occurred. There were many other activities that were done a daily basis. Hopefully, 2012 will bring even more good times at Lifetime Potentials.

Heritage Festival Float

August 17th, 2010

It is that time of year and next month is the Heritage Festival.

Some are still interested in doing a float again this year. We are looking for ideas and suggestions on what to do. We would also like to have some volunteers to help us create this float.

Last year we received a second place trophy for a float that we built fairly quickly. Imagine what we could do with  more time.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please contact:

Trish or Kristi

Any input would be appreciated!
